Back in the real world

It is one of the hardest things to do when the vacation ends. Get back into the routine that is the real world. I didn't mind the alarm going off at 5:35. I found myself awake a half hour earlier looking outside and trying to decide when I would have to shovel snow before work. I made the decision that works for me. If my neighbor isn't up cleaning his sidewalk, then I am not getting out there either.

With the threat of the ice storm the roads were messy. At least people were smart enough to leave the left lanes open so people with confidence in their driving abilities did not have to go 30 mph like the rest of crowd. Thus the drive in wasn't too bad for taking twice as long.

Email count wasn't that high. Lots of work to cover still, but manageable. What I didn't understand were the people leaving the voicemails. There were 6. Each one had details about that I had to follow up on. Who the fuck leaves a 5 minute voicemail after hearing that someone is out for a couple of days? Really. Those are the items I will get to last because I don't have time to transcribe their message and figure out what they really want. Besides, one of them was flat out stupid.

The snow continues to fall as I look out the window. Huge snowflakes are coming down. If I had left Vegas a day later, I would have gotten stuck somewhere, if the flight itself wasn't cancelled. Not sure if that was a good or bad thing right now.

I don't know when I will be able to get any Christmas shopping done. Will be getting together with family early again this year. I don't think they understand I need that valuable shopping time. I got most of it accomplished but will now need to actually go out to a store now. Looks like gift cards are the answer!

Waking up and not going down into a casino to have a beer and throw chips around takes some getting used to.

I probably should go and attack the next pile of work. Thankfully I do not have any appointments today. Or maybe slack until lunch. Or go eat now.
