Not the kind of trip for me

It is another butt kicking morning in the office. I feel like I haven't had much time to breathe. But I am in a much better mood that yesterday so I do have that going for me.

I did have something interesting occur at the bar after the game on Sunday. One of the promotions they ran for the game was the raffle for a trip to Vegas. It consisted of 2 or 3 nights at the Riviera along with food comps and some form of gambling comp as well. For $5 you could have a chance to win a package valued at just under $1000. It was noted that the package did not include airfare. If you won you still had to get there.

The game ends and there is a small rush to buy tickets. The drawing goes off and I throw my tickets into the ashtray in disgust after someone wins. As they go up to the bar they let out a triumphant "Mason (named change to protect the innocent) is going to Vegas!" I looked at him and commented "Mason ain't going anywhere because he cannot afford the airfare!" Which is true. This gangbanger wannabe is busy mooching off of others or spending what money he does have the bar. He may have the time to go to the Vegas but he won't have the spending money because I don't believe he is employed. Whatever money he had went to his DUI defense.

So I was bit shocked when my friend Ron tells the guy that he should take me to Vegas because I go all the time and could show him around. Mason jumps on the idea and says I can have half if I cover his airfare. Worse part is he is serious and Ron isn't helping out either with his encouragement.

If I am going to go to Vegas, I am not going to be babysitting some dude I have nothing in common with. The first bet I would place is that he runs out of money on the first day he is there. Second would be he gets drunk and starts a fight. Yep, definitely not the kind of person I want to spend any time in Vegas with.

My guess is he'd be worse then those drifters we picked up at Cruisers. Hopefully those putting you in that situation have no recollection of the conversation.

I have been the babysitter in Vegas and a couple of other casinos. Mason is so not the new guy you would go to Vegas with, You would have to sleep with one eye open or not at all. And you would have to keep your money clip up your bum. Oh wait, he has been incarcerated, he would look up there.

Riviera?

Better include a heavy amount of drink tickets and Crazy Girls shows.

They did have a pretty cool slot promotion, once a hour you'd get to be a contestant on a game-show like stage with a shot at $10,000.

Still... its the Riviera definitely not as posh as the IP.
