There are times I hate being a slumlord. This morning was one of those days. I woke up to find a note slid under my door. Notes slid under the door are not a good sign. First, I hate that someone gives you a note instead of knocking on the door and speaking with you. It is like they are avoiding you. They have bad news but fear being told no.
In this case the note said that the bathtub was backed up (again) and that I didn't like them as tenants. This is not true. Well not totally. When you don't tell me the bath tub is clogged and then whine about it, you are correct. I don't like you as a tenant because you are not informing me of issues like this. How can I have something fixed if I am not aware there is a problem?
My tenants are good people but times like this are infuriating. This is why you actually speak to people instead of leaving notes. I am to call a plumber but I don't know if anyone is going to be home. That is some good information to have. If someone is home, is it ok for someone to stop by. Now I have to call them and get the information before I can get the problem fixed. Makes me want to sell the place and get a single family unit.
