Three more on the list

Let's expand the list of Oktoberfest beers. Sadly, none of these was knock your socks off good. I had high hopes for the Sam Adams and Ayinger but they came up short. I am looking forward to trying the Bells Oktoberfest soon. Also will try the Schells, Becks, and Summit if I can still find them.

Samuel Adams Octoberfest- I believe this beer won an award at the Great American Beer Festival last month. I am not sure why. I thought it was average. It had good taste, color, and aroma, but it seemed thin to me. If it had a bit more body, it would have been great.

Ayingner Oktober Fest Marzen - Similiar to the Sam Adams, this one was on the thin side. Maybe my hopes were too high for this German import. Good flavor but a bit light. It also could have been a bit maltier for my palate.

Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier- I am not sure this is even a Marzen. It was light and lacked the malty taste. I would drink this again but not when I am looking for a good Oktoberfest beer.

Best of 2011 is still the New Glarus Staghorn.
