End of the line

It was the end of the line. Last stop. Last chance to Drink for Jesus. You may take a moment to reflect on the past festival season.

Yes, Drinking for Jesus 2006 is over. But it went out with a bang last night at St. Gregory the Great. 3 of the best bands in the area were on stage last night. The action started with a short set by Pat McCurdy. Who doesn't enjoy Sex and Beer?

Sex and beer, sex and beer
Are the two things we hold dear
Sex and beer, sex and beer
Are the things we like round here

Unfortunately it was a very short set. Maybe 30 minutes. Not quite sure what happened as he was to play for 2 hours. But it didn't matter as Mount Olive was playing on the main stage. The main stage at St. Greg's is an interesting place. The tent is big, the beer plentiful, and their is a support pole in the middle of the stage. Yep, smack dab in the middle of the platform is one of the tent's poles, that the performers need to maneuver around. MO's guy didn't care for it too much as he stayed on one side. Personally I think some act should get a stripper up there to put the pole to good use but the church would probably frown upon that.

MO did their set and took a break. This allowed us to take a walk over to catch Cherry Pie. Funny how I went a couple years without seeing these guys play and suddenly catch them 3 times in a month. They were as good as to be expected. I hope by next year they change their set list. As I have said before, too much Bon Jovi and Loverboy for my taste, especially in the beginning of the show.

But it was a good time yesterday. The crowd was on the small side as the weather was really cooperating. It was cold and windy. To me that is a good reason to be in a tent drinking beer. To others, I guess they rather stay home. Maybe they were too sad that Drinking for Jesus was over for the year.

I should also mention a major discovery that was made yesterday. Beer has traditionally been served in the 6 pack, the 12 pack and the case. But Miller came out with the 18 pack a couple years back. I never understood the reason for it. A 12 pack is a good night of drinking. But 18? That is a helluva drunk but if you are going to do 18, why wouldn't you just for the entire case? Well, I have discovered why the 18 pack exists.

It is the perfect football game package.

I stumbled upon this last week during the Badger game. I had drank 9 beers in the time of the game, including pre-game. Yesterday I drank 9 in the same period. Thus, the 18 pack is the perfect size to share with a friend during a football game. Take note of that, you will use it in the future.

I don't think I could sit thru the Packer game today and have ONLY nine beers. It would seem too much like 'pacing my self'

I doubt you even drank 9 yesterday.

I ended up with 15 pennies in my pocket, and I know I missed a few.
