Spring Cleaning

I started a project I should have done a couple of years ago. I started cleaning the crap out of the spare bedroom. Not sure why I have always put this off as it isn't a big project. I guess I didn't want to throw things out. Most people have this room where they put things thinking that they may need it someday. Years later the room is full of stuff and you stare at it wondering what the hell happened.

For me, all I really needed to do was start. Start somewhere and then pick away at it. I don't need to get it all done in one day, just get a start. So I did. I started by picking up the clothes I wasn't wearing any more. The clothes were in this pile because I had the intent of giving it away to charity. But the charity that used to call me on a routine basis stopped. Thus the clothes weren't going to people that needed them but just sitting around in this room.

Of course when you start going through these things you find items that you just can't get rid of. I picked up some old concert shirts I had. Scorpions, Aerosmith, Motley Cure, Damn Yankees. I looked at them and had to make a choice. I have a little room in the closet...

When all was said and done I had a big box of clothes filled up. I also had some old pillows in there. I probably should throw the pillows out but I will let the charity decide. They can toss them if they want. They just need to get through a bunch of shirts to get to them.

I also found some things I had lost and some I didn't even know I had. I found a plunger. I swore I had one and there it was. I found a calculator I had been looking for a couple months ago. I found a bag with some stuff from a convention in Vegas. I found an Excalibur duffel bag.

And then there was the porn. I found two tapes. Animal Attraction and Double D Dykes 11. How come I didn't know about these things before? I am tempted to put them in the box of clothes for the lucky person who unpacks it. It would be like a box of Cracker Jack for adults. But a better prize than a plastic spider ring or rub on tattoo. Of course I must watch them first.

The other thing I found was a box of old bank and brokerage statements from 2001 and 2002. I have no use for these anymore. Especially the old pay stubs. Good to see I am making more than I was then. But now I have the problem with disposing of this paper. Must be safe and shred it so some clown doesn't try to steal it and my identity. I think I am going to burn it at camp next weekend. I was told I could soak it in water and roll it up into a log so the paper doesn't burn letting the ashes fly about. We'll see how that works.

So now I have a third of the room done. I have a box of clothes and a huge bag of papers. I have to make a decision about an old computer and a big piece of exercise equipment and what to do with them.
