Where are the birds?

I woke up early on Saturday morning. It was 4:30. Way too early to give in to the day and get my butt out of bed. Instead I laid there thinking about things. The one thing the stuck in my head was "Where are the birds?"

Maybe I should have been thinking "When do the birds come back?" Being that spring was soon upon us, it suddenly struck me that I hadn't the birds chattering in the morning in such a long time. Until this morning.

When the alarm went off at 5:30, I noticed the birds yapping it up outside. Not many but some talking back and forth. It made me wonder what they could be saying. What do birds say? I could go look it up but I assume it has something to do with mating calls and danger signals. Maybe food. I don't know.

What I would like to think is that they were having conversations like most people might be having in the City of Milwaukee today. Maybe the birds were talking about the Marquette victory. Maybe it was the Wisconsin game from Saturday night. Maybe they were union birds protesting. Maybe they were talking about the rain from the day before. Maybe they were talking about meeting some ladybirds or maybe a bird was caught in the "flight of shame".

I don't know what those birds were saying. But I do know it was good to hear them again. Though the weather will be mild today and cooler for the next week or so, it is a sign that warmer weather is heading our way.

By the sounds of the squacking geese outside my work someone must have done someone wrong.
